Join the New Orleans Pharmacy Museum on Saturday, April 5th at Dillard University’s Professional Schools & Sciences Building for the second annual GenFest. This year’s theme is “Creating Community”: the act of creating community and history with one another. The New Orleans Housing Authority will debut a new collection of over 300 photographs, primarily taken from the 1940s to 1970s. More than 40 organizations specializing in genealogy, preservation, history, and culture will be represented at the event. Presentations start at 10:30, beginning with Gaynell Brady of Our Mammy’s showcasing historical records and discussing the crucial role laundresses have historically played in supporting their families and communities.
